Mindfulness

The practice of Mindfulness allows us to pay close attention to the present moment, noting our thoughts, feelings and body sensations with an attitude of curiosity and acceptance. This observing, allows us to consciously respond with clarity and focus, rather than react out of a habitual pattern. It opens up the possibility of working more wisely with difficulties in life and widens the choices available to us.

The way I teach mindfulness is based on the work by Kristin Neff and Chris Germer. It entails being warm and understanding toward ourselves when things go wrong in our lives rather than becoming critical, isolating ourselves, and getting lost in negative thinking.

I teach various mindfulness skills in individual counselling sessions and run regular workshops.
