Mindfulness

The most commonly quoted definition of Mindfulness comes from Jon Kabat-Zinn:

“Paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.”

The practice of Mindfulness allows us to pay close attention to the present moment, noting our thoughts, feelings and body sensations with an attitude of curiosity and acceptance. This observing, allows us to consciously respond with clarity and focus, rather than react out of a habitual pattern. It opens up the possibility of working more wisely with difficulties in life and widens the choices available to us.

Furthermore, the capacity to be Mindful lies in all human beings, and is available to be experienced in each moment and with every breath.

Meditation does not have to be a static activity →
